Enhancing Syngenta’s global digital presence with custom enterprise websites
About the client
Syngenta Group is a global agriculture technology leader based in Switzerland and operates in more than 90 countries. The company has four business units that provide farmers with agronomic products and tech services to resolve farming challenges, increase crop yields, and protect natural resources.
The challenge
Syngenta Group first came to Lemberg Solutions with a time-sensitive request. They wanted a custom Drupal website to present the company’s financial results and press releases for an initial public offering (IPO).
After successfully launching their Syngenta Group website, the client also entrusted our team to upgrade their main corporate website. It is one of the primary channels of communication with farmers globally, and yet, their website on Drupal 8 was no longer dynamic or easy to maintain.
While working on both projects, we had to:
Delivered value
Solution
Lemberg Solutions delivered two websites for two different Syngenta’s business units, built on the latest Drupal version. Both websites share a similar design and web components, though there are some distinctions.
Syngenta Group website
We had to deliver this website from scratch within two months, skipping the discovery phase. As it was aimed for global outreach, with a special focus on the Chinese market, Lemberg Solution implemented multilingual support (English and Chinese). Over time, at the client’s request, it evolved into two separate language-specific websites.
To increase capacity and ensure stability during high user loads, we connected the website to the Upsun hosting solution. Being an Upsun (formerly Platform.sh) partner, Lemberg Solutions knew the capabilities of this PaaS provider and that it was the best fit for Syngenta Group. Later, our client confirmed their effectiveness. Besides Upsun, some data hosting is done on the Cloudflare side, which allows the website to operate in China.
Main corporate website
For their main corporate website, we reused the same custom components as for the Syngenta Group platform, and also enhanced two specific components.
First, our engineers rebuilt a form for procurement and finance operations, which now supports 18 languages. Users can easily submit their personal data and requests related to registration, qualification, or purchase orders.
The next component was an overhaul of the career section. Our developers made an integration with a recruiting service to display all current vacancies directly on the website. This integration simplifies job applications, allowing users to view and apply for vacancies instantly.
Also, we provided manuals on how to operate in the CMS: upload media at the highest possible quality without impacting page performance, manage content, create new pages, and maintain existing ones.
Lemberg Solutions team continues its cooperation with Syngenta Group, expanding the functionality of their websites and ensuring their security.
Lemberg Solutions impressed me with their expertise, communication skills, and flexibility. They adapted well to our changing deadlines and specifications and maintained high development and testing standards throughout the process. I highly recommend their services to anyone seeking a professional and efficient web development company.
