IoT web app development for an asset tracking system
MonoLets is a US-based startup that develops BLE nodes for real-time asset tracking and management. Their tracking service enables accurate cargo location tracking and timely response in challenging shipment conditions.
Having a ready-made BLE solution for cargo tracking, our client wanted an IoT web app with an intuitive dashboard to provide users with more functionality. They searched for a team with strong IoT expertise and proficiency in Vue.js development to create a functional app and integrate Google Maps for more interactive shipment management.
We delivered a functional web app with an intuitive dashboard that simplifies the use of the client’s BLE solution for end users. The asset tracking system enables tracking cargo during its transportation and inside the warehouse as well as provides detailed information on the storage conditions. As a result, end users can easily manage their shipments and be aware of the actual transportation conditions.
About the client’s project:
MonoLets provides end users with BLE nodes that act as tracking labels and transmit real-time data about cargo location and transportation conditions. The nodes track the temperature of the environment and location while the cargo is being shipped and when it is already at the warehouse.
To make the solution more convenient for end users, our client decided to create an IoT web app enabling MonoLets BLE device management. They chose the Lemberg Solutions team as a tech partner to delegate web app and dashboard development from scratch.
We provided the client with a web development team with strong IoT expertise and developed a web app and functional dashboard as well as incorporated Google Maps.
Our work on the asset tracking system mainly focused on integrating Google Maps into the web app. Using Vue.js and Google API, we customized the map to the client’s requirements. The app allows the users to check cargo’s shipping route after its consignment, all storage locations (including storage address), and its movement within a warehouse. Our team developed warehouse layouts with the Konva framework to add interactivity and ensure the app’s ease of use.
Other features we built include:
- Filters that allow users to choose which warehouses to monitor.
- Sidebars with detailed information where users can extract more information on the cargo.
- Temperature tab that shows the maximum allowable temperature for the cargo and whether it is maintained within the norm.
- Battery life tab with the battery charge data of each node.
- Notifications for cargo status changes, node state, and potential hazards.
- A history of cargo transportation outdoors and its movement within a warehouse.
Our web development team also worked on the admin panel that allowed users to arrange cargo shipment and take other necessary actions. The developed app and dashboard increased the feasibility of the client's devices and added more business value to their service.
