Delivering industrial-grade reliability with wireless BMS
About the client
Our client, a battery manufacturer that focuses on solutions for off-road industrial vehicles, constantly seeks fresh approaches for delivering sustainable products.
The challenge
As the company works with big industrial firms, its solutions need a high degree of reliability and durability. Therefore, they wanted to develop a battery management system that would successfully compete with other innovative options on the market.
For our client, it was important to be able to choose from several technologies after weighing their advantages and limitations. What mattered most was that the technology had to offer cell-level intelligence with robust data monitoring and event logging.

Solution
After receiving a set of initial specifications, our engineers decided to use Dukosi technology because we had seen its benefits on previous projects. To ensure long-term battery performance, our team focused on the three major aspects that are vital for any battery management system.
First comes safety control. Implemented safety mechanisms prevent overcharging, excessive discharging, and overheating. When critical thresholds are approached, the system sends an alert to the telemetry module and automatically shuts down charging or discharging if fault limits are exceeded. Current is also monitored to avoid overcurrent damage.
Next, cell balancing to extend battery life and improve overall efficiency. When some batteries are charging faster than others, the system slows down the charge of those cells, allowing the less charged ones to catch up.
Finally, the state of charge estimation. We combined two approaches—the open-circuit voltage and coulomb counting – to ensure an accurate state-of-charge estimation.
